Originally designed in 2006, the 309-acre, master-planned community of Miralon in Palm Springs, California, replaces a previously designed golf course with 1,150 homes ranging from attached units to contemporary single-family homes. Developer Freehold Communities plans to devote nearly 100 of its 300 acres to create an agrihood that includes 7,000 olive trees and a mix of neighborhood gardens, fruit trees, parks, and trails.
In the community’s single-family Flair collection, builder Woodbridge Pacific Group and designer Hannouche Architects developed five midcentury-influenced floor plans ranging in size from 2,029 to 2,809 square feet. Of the five, four are one-story plans with three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, and the largest plan includes two stories, three beds, and three-and-a-half baths.
“The Flair collection at Miralon caters to the locale with midcentury aesthetics both inside and out,” states one juror. “The flat-roof façades of each of the five designs utilize stucco, concrete, and subtle color. The judges enjoyed the variations of the floor plans and elevations that all complement each other very well.”
To enliven the streetscape, the teams developed the floor plans with front or rear pools/spas and with side or front entries. All five models feature open-concept floor plans, including expansive great rooms for homeowner entertaining needs, two-bay garages with contemporary garage doors, large sliding glass doors that seamlessly connect to the private yards, and spacious master suites.
In addition to the Flair collection’s Residential Detached Collection of the Year win, Miralon was also recognized as the Master Plan Community of the Year and earned grands for Best Community Land Plan and Best Community Pivot.
“The judges appreciated the whole package, including the community’s site plan, the modern agrihood amenities, and the residential product offerings,” states another juror. “It was truly a fan favorite.”
