Barbara and Bill McCain came to Bald Eagle Point after more than 38 years in their family home. Having made the decision to leave San Francisco’s Bay Area, they moved first to Placerville, which put them between their son in the Bay Area and their daughter in Denver. Now, both son and daughter live in Eagle, Idaho, and Barbara and Bill followed, renting a home while they looked at this area.
“We moved to Placerville for four years, then bought a home in Eagle and lived there for two and a half years, then lived in a rental here for six weeks until our WPG home was ready—all of which made it possible to be close to our four grandchildren,” said Barbara, a retired graphic designer. “Now we are settling into our new home in Bald Eagle Point and we are done!”
The goal was a single-story home. “We really wanted out of two-story living, and we started our search in 2021, as Covid restrictions began to ease,” said Bill, a retired software engineer. “We were OK with either a re-sale or new, but it had to be a single-story home, convenient to Eagle so we could see our children and grandchildren—and for sale, not for rent!”
Easier said than done, they learned, as they roamed a wide area with their Realtor. “Our agent took us everywhere, and single-story homes for sale were really hard to find,” said Bill.
Then they saw Bald Eagle Point’s Plan Four on Zillow. “Just the exterior, which we liked as an interesting design,” said Barbara. “Then we looked at the property, which is a half-acre, and the beautiful area—an area we want to live in.”
Woodbridge Pacific Group was a new name to the McCains, and their new home was not yet built, but Barbara and Bill made the leap of faith and bought the Plan Four. “Our agent did a lot of research, and WPG got good marks,” said Bill. “We also saw one of their homes being framed and one nearly completed, and both looked good.”
The McCains’ new home is both spacious and gracious, with views to the outdoors that begin at the porch entry and carry through the social core to a large, covered outdoor living area. Accessible from the owners’ new suite and the entertainment areas, it adds more than 650 square feet of outdoor space to their home, which provides 3,174 square feet of interior space, with buyers choosing 4 to 5 bedrooms and 4.5 to 5.5. baths. “We have our suite, plus extra bedrooms and a home office,” said Barbara. “One of the bedrooms will be super as my sewing room!”
Visiting the build site over the 7-month wait, the McCains continued to be impressed with WPG. “The site is super clean, which tells you there is pride in what they do,” said Barbara. “Then we started meeting the people who work here, and we are truly impressed with WPG. The communication with our agent was steady and smooth, which was huge for me—with this company, someone actually calls back!”
Their new home was finished and ready for the September 1 move in, right on time. At walkthrough the McCains were again impressed. “WPG explained everything about our new home, and the customer service rep had all the information we needed, from emergency numbers to the specs for our washer and dryer,” said Barbara. “Everything was thoughtful and organized.”
Also notable was WPG’s sense of responsibility, say Barbara and Bill. “They already had our money, but the responsiveness is still there,” said Bill. “Our laundry room needs adjusting for the washer and dryer we chose, and we expect the fix to be completed very soon. WPG’s pride and commitment to making things right is outstanding!”
